I'm a fan of innovation and when I first saw the MotoXboard I was instantly intrigued. I mean it takes the standard design of a motorized mountainboard and comes up with something entirely uniquely its own by placing a powered wheel in between the riders feet.
I've had experience with a cheapo (well not so cheap to me) junk motorized mountainboard that was bought on eBay. The thing was absolutely horrible, and it even tried to kill me (maybe I'll post about that later).
Anyway, it's nice to see something different come into the market and not the same old, mass-produced-in-China garbage.
Here's a video released a few months ago (I've been away for awhile) of the MotoXboard in action as their crew took a trip to Snowmass Village, CO.

There seems to have been little advancement in motorized mountainboards and off road boards over the past years. Their are many skeletons left over from motorized boards that have come and gone, and there are very few that have a solid foothold. With how things are currently in the motorized board world, you'll find many junky imported motorized mountainboards, and very few ones of quality. The choices are limited, and their are very few that stand out from the crowd.

The makers of the MotoXBoard are paving the way for a new breed of motorized off road boards. One that is both functional and fun. The MotoXBoard is the product of 15 years of tinkering. What sets this board apart from the rest is it's unique design. Most motorized off road boards have suspension and trucks like a mountainboard or skateboard, as well as a chain powered rear wheel. The MotoXBoard has a large powered wheel placed in the middle of the board, fully independent floater suspension, and a rear mounted handle bar. The rear handle bar provides extra balance support when things get rough, and is where the rider controls the throttle and braking.

If anyone knows anything about this mystery motorized mountainboard, please feel free to share. It's pretty cool to see a motorized mountainboard that is hands free.
With skateboarding you are confined to hard surfaces. Sticks, rocks, cracks, and even small holes are mortal enemies to the skateboard. The wheels of a skateboard just can't handle them.

If you want to experience off road skateboarding at it's finest, check out a mountainboard. Also sometimes referred to as an all-terrain board, a dirtboard, grassboard, or a landboard.
To make it simple, a mountainboard is basically a larger version of a skateboard adapted for off road riding. Big off road tires, bigger deck (bigger than a skateboard that is), footstraps, and trucks with shocks are all common on most mountainboards.
Snowboarders often mountainboard in the summer so they can continue to improve their skills. Mountainboarding can be a fun sport to try for anyone who skateboards, longboards, wakeboards, or does any other board sport.
With mountainboarding you can ride on much more than just hard surfaces.
